Pantry Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 10, 2026
Chen Asraf (“we”, “our”, or “us”) built the Pantry app as a free, open-source companion for the Nextcloud Pantry application. This SERVICE is provided by Chen Asraf at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This Privacy Policy is meant to inform users regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information for anyone choosing to use our Service.
1. Information We Collect
Nextcloud Credentials
Pantry connects to your self-hosted Nextcloud instance using the Nextcloud Login Flow v2. Your server URL and an app-specific password are stored securely on your device using encrypted storage. We never see, transmit, or store your credentials on any server controlled by us.
Photos
When you upload photos to the Photo Board, they are sent directly to your Nextcloud server. Photos are not transmitted to or stored on any third-party server. Temporary thumbnails may be cached locally on your device for performance.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app caches checklist items, photos, notes, and preferences locally on your device to enable offline access and faster loading. This data remains on your device and your Nextcloud server only.
2. Self-Hosted Architecture
Pantry is a client for the Nextcloud Pantry server app. All your data is stored on your own Nextcloud server. We do not operate any backend servers, databases, or cloud services. We have no access to your data at any time.
3. Use of Third-Party Services
-
Nextcloud — your self-hosted instance handles all data storage, authentication, and API communication. Refer to your Nextcloud instance administrator for their privacy practices.
-
Flutter by Google — the framework used to build the app. Flutter itself does not collect any personal data.
-
cached_network_image — used for local image caching on your device. No data is sent to external services.
4. Data Sharing and Storage
-
No Third-Party Sharing We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third-party entities for any purpose.
-
No Analytics or Tracking The app does not include any analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs.
-
Your Server, Your Data All data is transmitted directly between the app and your Nextcloud server. We are not an intermediary and have no ability to access, read, or modify your data.
5. User Control and Data Management
- You may revoke the app password at any time from your Nextcloud security settings or by logging out of the app.
- You may clear locally cached data by logging out or clearing the app’s storage via your device settings.
- All data on your Nextcloud server is managed by you or your server administrator.
6. Permissions
The app may request the following device permissions:
- Internet — required to communicate with your Nextcloud server.
- Camera / Photo Library — required to upload photos to the Photo Board.
You may revoke these permissions at any time via your device settings.
7. Children’s Privacy
Pantry is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
